The latest Features of Google Earth

Google Earth is a virtual program that was created by the Key Hole INC and was initially known as the earth viewer. The program uses images obtained from the satellite imagery, aerial photography and GIS 3D globe for the mapping of the earth. In the year 2004 the Earth Viewer was named as its present name as the program was taken over by the Google and thus was renamed as the Google Earth. At present the program is available in three different versions that include the Google Earth which is basically a free version with limited functionality, the Google Earth Plus that includes a few more features and the Google Earth professional which is mainly meant for commercial uses.
The latest Features of Google Earth:
One of the latest features of the Google Earth is the digital elevation model. This is shortly termed as the DEM. This technology is used for the collection of Data by the NASA’s Shuttle Radar Topography mission. By the aid of the DEM the user can view any geographical location on the surface of the earth in a 3 dimensional format, where as normally it is viewed in 2d format in computers or in the web. The Google Earth is shows all kinds of images present on the surface of the earth. The program is also capable of producing Web Map Services to its clients. Another very significant special feature of the Google earth which is the latest of its kind is the management of the three dimensional geospatial through the Keyhole mark up language. This latest feature of the Google earth is available in the free versions as well as the licensed versions for commercial uses.
Other special features of the Google Earth:
In the year 2006 the Google earth added one latest feature that is known as the Geographic Web. This includes the integration of some special informative sites on the web that enables entry to the Google earth directly from those link sites. The program had also added General perspective. This enables viewing of the earth’s surface just like that in an orthographic projection, thus allowing the users to see the earth as it looks from an elevated surface or from an orbit around the surface. The latest operating version of the Google earth that was released on the 10th of January 2006 was the Mac OS X version. This version of the Google Earth is the latest and the most stable versions till date with all the functions of the original version of the program in windows operating system.
